We thought Holland was flat when we drove through. Then we discovered that Northern Germany is pretty flat too! Well so far the Denmark that we have seen, South Jutland, is even more flat! (if that’s possible!!).
We found Holland much as expected and Germany clean and tidy with everything well maintained. Denmark is all of this and more. The houses, roads, even the farms and fields are all really well maintained and clean and tidy. The churches are the smartest we have ever seen. In fact Denmark is ALL clean and tidy. It seems to be the very essence of the culture.
Something that DID surprise us was buying diesel………….yup, I’m not joking. It appears that fuel stations change their price 3 or 4 times a day depending on demand and competition. The price can change by up to one Krone per litre (11p) ! We were going to buy diesel on Thursday night but waited until Friday morning and therefore saved a small fortune (we filled up with 89 litres).
Danish pastries are really yummy and we have already taken a real liking to pickled herring and rye bread!
