A separate entry just to give our first impressions of Sweden. We have only been here since yesterday and we already we really like Sweden. The Swedes clearly take great pride in their possessions and their country. The whole place is clean, tidy and well maintained (even more than Denmark). The roads are good, the people are very polite and it would seem very law abiding (no sign yet of road rage or speeding for example).
On our cycle ride this afternoon we rode through a few villages and try as we might we could NOT find a single tatty house or garden! We also noticed that every car that passed us either slowed right down or gave us a really wide berth whilst overtaking (just doesn’t happen like that in UK).
In this part of Sweden (Skane) the landscape is very flat and very agricultural. The fields are massive (even bigger than those in France) and the flora is lush and colourful. The farms are all well kept too!
Being by the sea (Baltic) is of course novel, as although there is a small tidal range it feels more like a lake than a sea.
Sweden is a place that we could live in (but we haven’t seen Norway yet!)………..
