3 May E9 Ribe

Ribe is the oldest town is Denmark and is home to the oldest Cathedrel in Denmark too.  Last night we went on a walk with the ‘Night Watchman’ (for tourists now, but the Night Watchmen has patrolled the town every night since around 1200)

The Cathedral originally had twin towers like the one on the left.  In the 15th century the other one fell down on Christmas Eve (killing many people in the church) and was replaced by the red brick tower on the right.  This tower had a spire when it was built but that one fell off (!) and was not replaced as the town could not afford it)

And more house here (just look at the subsidence!)
