12 June E60 If it's Thursday it must be Sweden!

Breakfast in Norway, Lunch in Finland, Dinner in Sweden………….what travellers we are…..haha!

Since leaving our previous night stop (see E59) it has been cold and rainy all day :(   We stopped in Kautekeino in Norway to visit the Juhlse Sølvsmie Silver workshop and gallery then continued through Finland (lunch stop) and back into Sweden at the border between Karresuavanto (Finland) and Karesuando (Sweden).

The weather today really has felt like a return to winter!  It has rained almost non stop and barely got above 8c.  Now that we are back in Sweden we will cut through the miles and make our way back to Norway as previously mentioned in ‘E57'

The Main building started as the home of two artists who met in this region during the 1950’s; Regine and Frank Julse, both fascinated and inspired by the Sama culture they set up their home and studio here.  They designed the building themselves and added to it over the last 5 decades.  Although both artists they soon specialised in traditional Sami design silver jewellery.

The building has evolved (from right to left) and their ‘home’ is currently in the underground area to the left of the giant golden egg...
