Berg Slussar is situated on one of the most scenic sections of the Gota Canal which links the Baltic Sea in the East to the North Sea in the west (as it happens our very own Thomas Telford oversaw its design and construction and it is considered to be a sister canal to the Caledonian Canal in Scotland.
This is the delightful 13th century abbey of which only the main church remains standing (extensively renovated in 1914-17)
Some of the abbey remains. These are the oldest in Sweden dating back to 1120 by Benedictine monks.
