Our night stop last night was in a picnic site overlooking this harbour….
One of the many barns that we have seen but no yet photographed (until now). They all have solid ramps halfway up (?)
Stopped for coffee here (no wind, 21c, blue sky………nice!)
A ‘drive by’ photo….
Now this is where we stayed in the ‘Saltstraumen’ which is the sea inlet to Skjerstadfjord.
Every six hours or so 400 million cubic metres of water pass through this gap into the Skjerstadfjord at speeds of up to 20 knots forming huge overfalls and whirlpools. It is the worlds strongest maelstrom and an impressive sight to see...
one of the whirlpools forming
and just below the Saltstraumen Bridge we spotted this grass roofed house………cute.
