Finally we left the endless forest drive of the E45 and cut across country to Norway via the ‘Wilderness Road’ section from Vilhelmina to Gädded. We were back in the land of mountain rivers and waterfalls…. The temperature dropped and the wind got up, the following day we awoke to snow showers, a near gale force wind and 3 degrees centigrade!
Look closely and you will see Wolfy parked up for our night stop….
which overlooked these rapids at Trappstegsforsen on the Kultsjöån river
Then the next day we found ourselves back up above the snow line on the Stekenjokk Plateau………a different kind of beauty..
Get this! a road without trees! (hoorah)
The road had only been opened about a week before we arrived, the snow here is about 6 feet deep...
On our way down from the plateau we were back amongst the trees and waterfalls before driving through Gåddede and into Norway..
