This part of our journey began at Valldal where we indulged ourselves and took the ‘Cruise Ferry’ along the three Fjords of Norddalsfjord, Sunnylvsfjord and Geirangerfjord to Geiranger. The mini cruise takes 2 hours 15 minutes and only runs from 20th June to 20th August, so we were very lucky to be here at the right time of year on a beautiful summer day (it had been wet and cold for a week or so!).
Old pier at Valldal….
Wolfy in the ferry queue….
This trip is all about colour, size and drama….
If you look closely you can see old farm buildings here (some footings go back 1000 years!)
See what I mean about colour and size? Beautiful blue sky, green water and massive mountains….
which rise vertically out of the fjord.
The ‘Seven Sisters’ waterfalls
and opposite…….. the waterfall known as ‘The Suitor’, who constantly proposed to the sisters but was rejected and turned to the bottle which can be seen at the base of the fall (I didn’t make this up, it’s what the guide says!)
and lastly the ferry arrives in Geiranger.
