We left the Trig point at 19:20 and figured we would be back at base by 22:00
The smaller waypoints on route were marked with red ’T’s (notice the angle of the rock face we had to walk on)
Fortunately this river has a bridge (and a happy looking Kate as a result!)
Only on the way back did we realise that nearly the whole of the return trip was uphill !
and of course with loads more snow and river melts to cross….
it’s about 21:50 and were nearly there…...
“Ah yes, Wolfy in the distance” (this was a big deal for us!)
We made it! It’s 22:00 in the evening, we have been out since 16:00 and our feet are cold and wet through……..was it worth it??
OH YES! (that smile on Kates face is genuine feel good smugness!)
The view looking back from the van (it did not seem as snowy when we set out!)
So we moved the van to the corner of the parking area and prepared ourselves a lovely evening meal to celebrate our successful mission….
which included Norwegian Cod Pate on Flatbrod with lemon and pepper, Swedish meatballs with a yummy ‘Grädd’ sauce (we bought them two weeks ago before leaving Sweden) and Lingonberry jam. All washed down with a rather delicious bottle of Champagne which we had brought with us (actually one of the bottles we bought from the Champagne house when we were in France last year)
The evidence! (hic!)
